A quiet part of the Lake District but still a good hill to climb (Hampsfell) and down to Cartmel. Do not miss a beautiful coastal train journey which you can take all the way to Carlisle. We went to Ravenglass to go on Little Ratty steam train. Grange has a lovely flower-fill promenade with no traffic, great views of the surrounding coast and vast sands. The town has lots of cafes and independent shops. Good chippy too. Perfect place for a relaxing holiday and perfect for exploring via the train.

3rd visit to Grange over Sands.
3rd visit to Grange over Sands. Stayed more central this time so much closer to supermarkets and the prom. Great railway station and bus service for when we didn't use the car. Very friendly locals. Great park with duck food £1.00 per bag to feed the ducks. Great local ice-creams sold in various locations. Had morning drink and tea cake in Butter Fingers, very good menu for meals too. Ate in The Estuary Bistro which was amazing, food and service was excellent 10/10, just be aware they do charge for the table water £4.50 a bottle!! Very friendly and very quick service. Would return for that extra special meal. Also tried The Commodore Inn which is currently being refurbished. Staff and food was excellent but inside obviously being refurbished so will hold off commenting. Great local shops and Daisy Bookshop is a cavern of treats, always come out with a book or two.
Promenade walk each day is a must and look forward to seeing the completed refurbishment of the Lido when that is completed.

We walked along a long promenade but most was shut for renovations but should be good after two weeks so mid April. We went through some gardens before there with a round pavilion and gardens which was nice. Lots of shops including Tesco express and co-op very near hotel. If you have an electric car like us then opposite the hotel is a charging point for two cars only and we managed to charge it there after registering with Fuuse and downloading the app. Was panicking getting it sorted but once done the app worked great. The contactless option didn’t work so had to use this other option so be warned in advance EV car owners. Get the app before you get there! Plus! The car park is pay and display so make sure you do that as the car next to us had a fine on his window for not doing so, even on Easter Sunday

Beautiful hotel wrong time of year to visit most things were closed which limited options.
Staff were amazing and so attentive can't fault them.
Room was nice with lovely sea view. Shower water was really slow so I felt this could be improved. Mattresses was too hard but nice amount of cushions. Heating worked great. Tea coffee facility good but could use more milk.
Nice stay and I'd go again but only in summer to take advantage of location to the full

A pleasant place to visit with a few independent retailers, decent park and a lovely promenade with lovely views over the bay. There are also small cafes and play parks a long this area. A lot of building work on the promenade to renovate an open air swimming pool which is stated to be completed in late 2024. Grange Over Sands is quite hilly with quite an assent from the car park which people with mobility problems may find difficult. A train station is situated just as you enter Grange with regular services to different places.

A good value stay in a lively pub, bar meals were good and reasonably priced, beer was good and well priced, staff are attentive and helpful. The room was big and had ensuite it provided good peaceful sleep each night, it is an old building so if you want new Premier Inn type accommodation it would not suit you. The locals seem to enjoy the pub and it was nice to relax in the bar and outside area after some lovely walks around the lakes and Grange over Sands; thanks.
The beautiful room, with a sofa and DVD player. Thoughtfully furnished with everything you may want. The breakfast menu and the breakfast in a light airy room overlooking the estuary. The couple who run it were so friendly and thoughtful. There is no reason to go to the Grange or Netherwood hotels when you can stay here, eat an outstanding breakfast and an excellent dinner at the Clare House Hotel, diagonally opposite.
All the meals were very good. During lockdown the bedrooms that we saw had I think all been re-decorated to a high standard and in our bedroom a new shower had been installed. The hotel is family run who are all "hands on" working together with their staff. The hotel is set in a beautiful wooded area above Grange over Sands and had the weather been better during our stay there are a number of walks in the area.
This was a true find,. We were delighted with everything about this property. It exudes history, charm snd character and was very spacious, comfortable and clean. It is adjacent to an old Manor house in what was once the Billiard Room. It has been very suitably converted with magnificent views of the vast beach of Grange Over Sands which is within walking dustance..
The location of the property is beautiful. Grange Over Sands is picturesque. The beach and old buildings are beautiful. The apartment is right near shops and take aways. It's a quiet little town on the night. Apartment is lovely. Beds are a little hard but this is personal preference. Only negative would be no mirror to get ready in the front bedroom.
We stayed in the Love Suite which was amazing. The hotel is close to the promenade with parking on site.
Jackie was a fantastic host and the breakfast was brought to our room at a time we wanted and the full English tasted amazing. We had such a good time we actually stayed in a another room at the end of our stay in the Lakes.
Loved the comfy bed and we had breakfast served in the room with lots of choice. Perfect poached eggs Benedict, beans on toast and fruit was all good. Location was perfect for us with pubs/restaurants/take outs near by. Good communication from hotel before arriving with recommendations to places to eat and taxi numbers.
Lovely friendly owners and staff.
Somerset house is lovely and clean and tastefully decorated.
Our room was a good size and well equipped.
A good choice for the breakfast menu, which was nicely presented.
The house is in a nice location within easy walking distance of shops and the front.
Room was very comfortable with the most fantastic view of the bay, we did pay extra for a superior room but well worth it! The dinner was good value for money and the decor throughout the hotel was very impressive. Delicious breakfast we would definitely stay here again.
Quaint old world hotel. Loved the cast iron radiators. The ball room the dining room a really nice place to stay. I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t like this hotel yes it has some unique quirks but it made it so charming and lovely
Quaint pub out in the country . Used on route to Scotland .
Lovely staff
Dog friendly which is what we needed
Breakfast was lovely and hot but lacked some usuals - toast and a second cuppa wouldn’t have gone a miss .
Food was very good esp breakfast, service was also very good. Very nice staff. Room was a little tight on space but was clean and had all the facilities required. Very good hotel, would recommend
The staff were friendly, from reception to waiters; the hotel was comfortable, well placed and quiet, surrounded by trees. Food - both evening meal and breakfast were amazing.
Hotel is in a lovely peaceful location - staff were exceptionally friendly, and the meals were excellent. Would definitely book again if we were travelling back to the area.
